The life I planned was ripped away
I struggle with things to which few can relate
a story filled past with no conclusions
lack of closure brings building confusion
small encounters with no known purpose
details that just won't come to the surface
the memories I have cause far less pain
than the ones I've lost and I'll never regain

one by one the details fade
your body's movements your mind's mistakes
too many conversations to save
destroyed by the tide and lost in the waves
now I only see you in my dreams
your unexpected presence brings me peace
joy comes with every word thats spoken
I'll fight to live with my eyes open

Thoughts are always running in my head
but no progress is made
I try to arrange it to make some sense
it never seems to work that way
my mind moved on but my heart never will
there are too many holes to fill
I'll sit and watch the seasons change
while holding on to what remains
